MetaX 1.2 is now available for download. Here are the notes from the change log:

1.2 - Added program update support
Added movie poster searching
Fixed umlaut and other special characters displayed in MetaX
Added m2v support to the open dialog

So, any of you who were having problems with special characters should see them displayed correctly now. I hope that you enjoy the movie poster searching. (I like to tag my movies with the posters.) Enjoy!
