MetaX 2.2.2 - Danish Localization

08/31/07 03:28 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.2.2 change log:

denmark

  • Fixed preset-rating bug (Thanks Nate!)
  • ATVFiles export function now exports .jpg as well as .xml
  • Added Danish localization (Thanks Faisel!)

This version fixes a nasty preset bug that caused problems with a saved blank rating field. Anybody who was experiencing this will now have relief.

The ATVFiles export option now exports both xml and jpg with the same name, providing some usefulness to those users Happy

Thanks to Faisel, MetaX now supports Danish. Visit his website from the about box.

Keep the feedback and bug reports coming. Enjoy!

An XML file compatible (?) with ATVFiles can be exported via the file menu. If you are an ATVFiles user please test this and provide feedback.

You can now enter your own genre names by typing them into the genre field. If the genre is not already in the list, it will be stored for use across sessions. To clear any user created genres, use the clear button in the preferences.

The help menu now has options for visiting the MetaX website and sending bug reports/feedback. Be sure to take a look at the tutorial on the MetaX page! Please provide feedback and bug reports. Enjoy!

MetaX 2.1.8

08/26/07 02:20 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.1.8 brings some new features:

MetaXDisk

-Added IMDb browser feature
-Added option to strip parenthetical text from Amazon titles
-Added file size checking to prevent processing files > 4GB

Although the IMDb use policy precludes automatic data gathering, the new browser feature will at least add convenience to the user. When the browser is opened, it will do an automatic search of IMDb based upon the search text in the MetaX main window. You can then gather whatever you need via drag and drop from the browser window to the tag field.

The new preference: "Strip () info from Amazon titles" will remove any trailing parenthetical text such as (Widescreen Edition). Find it in the preferences.

Finally, MetaX will check the size of your file(s) to ensure that they are below the 4GB limit before opening them. You will be warned if they are too large. Keep up the great suggestions and feedback. Enjoy!

A bug fix and one new feature -- MetaX 2.1.6

08/24/07 06:07 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.1.6 fixes the drag and drop image bug. You will no longer see the automatic popup of the cover art window, and the check box will automatically be selected again.

This release adds the purchase date tag. Find it on the info tab of the main window. As Faisel says, now you can get that "iTunes Store feeling". Enjoy!

MetaX-2.1.4

08/23/07 05:14 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.1.4 adds some new features and improvements:

Updated German localization for genres
Correct drag and drop cursor is now displayed
Added drag and drop support from iTunes
Added enlarged cover art preview panel
Temporary files are now written to /tmp
Fixed issue with iTunes timeout while installing plugin
Bug fixes

You will now get the expected feedback for drag and drop operations with the green + cursor. (I guess it took me a while to realize that wasn't there Happy)

Files can now be dragged directly from iTunes. Do not change any file names coming from an iTunes library, or it will have a hard time finding them again.

The "Enlarge" button below the cover art display will pop up a window displaying a larger view. Resize to your heart's content and eyeball that beautiful poster.

MetaX now writes all of its temporary files to the /tmp folder. This should alleviate any permission problems users were having. Finally, I increased the time delay for restarting iTunes after installing or removing the plugin.

As always, please provide your comments. I am especially interested in hearing how you like the new queue behavior (automatic) vs. the old behavior (manual). Enjoy!

MetaX 2.1.2 - Queue Core Reborn

08/19/07 04:52 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.1.2 sports a brand new queue core. Here are the changes:
cow128

-Re-write of queue handling core
-Added Apple TV sorting tags
-Genre is now in auto-filling editable list
-Added lock for encoding tool tag between files
-Bug fixes

When you open a new file it is automatically added to the queue and selected. Edit tags at your leisure. You can select multiple queue items at once, and edit as well. Deleting queue files is the same, just select and delete. When you have all of the tags to your liking, click on Write to process the queue. The black cow icon in the queue will show you which files have edits applied to them.

Also of interest in this release are the Apple TV sorting tags. Use the sorting tab to apply these. The genre selection list is a smart list, dependent upon the video kind selected. You can select a genre from this list, or create your own.

Also by popular demand is a locking mechanism for the tool tag. Just click to select the "-" in the check box, and your tool tag will persist between files. This is great for tagging all of your HandBrake files!

I found several bugs I didn't even know existed and killed them. Let me know if you have any suggestions or bug reports. Enjoy!

MetaX 2.1.0 with iTunes plugin

08/12/07 12:54 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.1.0 comes complete with an iTunes plugin. Here is the log:

plugin3

- Added iTunes plugin for tag editing
- Fixed XML parsing of accented characters
- Help file now describes preference settings
- Bug fixes

To install the iTunes plugin, just select the "Enable iTunes plugin" option. This will copy the plugin to the appropriate location and restart iTunes. To remove the plugin de-select the option. The file will be removed from your system and iTunes will restart. This plugin allows you to send a file to MetaX for editing from iTunes. Access this feature with the right click menu in iTunes.

This version also fixes XML parsing of accented characters. The words used to be truncated up to the special character. Now they should be correct. I also tweaked how TV tags are queued and improved the help file. Keep the feedback and bug reports coming. Enjoy!

Kill the bugs! MetaX 2.0.8

08/10/07 03:56 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.0.8 brings some minor new features and bug fixes:

bug

Added error checking for insufficient free space on file system
Command + Left arrow and Command + Right arrow to switch tabs
Preset panel is now resizable
German ratings are automatically enabled for German language users
Added the beginnings of AppleScript support
Bug fixes

The error checking will now prevent data loss due to insufficient room on the file system containing the movie file. Key shortcuts for changing tabs have been modified to prevent walking over the command + . cancel command. One of the exterminated bugs was a crash bug for those impatient users who wanted to click the Go! button excessively Happy Enjoy MetaX and be sure to send suggestions and bug fixes. (The AppleScript support will become more refined and more extensive in future releases.)

MetaX 2.0.6

08/05/07 05:55 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX 2.0.6 adds exclusive international support. Here is the change log:

-Added support for ratings from IE, CA, AU, NZ, and DE
-Improved German localization
-"Command ." to switch between tabs
-Bug fixes

Yes, it will actually write German movie ratings that are viewable in iTunes. This comes along with support for Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. All of the rating support is accessible via the preferences. I hope that you all enjoy the new ratings! The German localization has been tweaked a bit, and I added a hot-key sequence to go between tabs "Command .". A few well-hidden bugs were also disposed of. Enjoy!

Two small updates bring MetaX to 2.0.4

08/02/07 07:41 PM Filed in: Mac Stuff
MetaX has had a few small updates this week to bring it to version 2.0.4. Here are the changes:

2.0.2
TV Shows now search for posters based upon TV and not movies
Fixed crash that occurred when second search was performed

2.0.4
Added UK movie rating support
UI improvements
Bug fixes

When performing a search for TV shows, the poster art is now performed more specifically for TV vice movies. The difference between TV Show, Movie, and Music Video is now controlled by the selection on the Video Kind button. This should make it a little less frustrating to get the data where it belongs Happy UK movie ratings are now supported, and are piped in from Amazon.co.uk. If there are any requests for other international ratings that iTunes supports, just let me know. I also tweaked the UI a bit, and got rid of a few bugs. Please let me know if you encounter any problems. (Sorry about the rapid release cycle.) Enjoy!
